Post subject: FirstSpot DHCP Question / ISSUE !

We have installed the Trial of Version 3.12. Works Amazing.

Question though. We have 1 few remote networks configured and working under the Multiple Network Segments.

Right now, the only way we can make it work, is if the DHCP pools are issued / assigned by remote devices and not the First Spot Server. So basically, each remote site, has it's own DHCP Server, and the FirstSpot DHCP Server is DISABLED.

When we enable it, no IP's are being assigned to any network.

It works ok, though if possible, we wanted to make Firstspot handle everything.

Is this a known issue, or should we leave it like this?

You need to have a router that supports "DHCP Relay" (e.g. Zywall 10). The setup wil be like:

Client -> Router (support DHCP Relay) -> FirstSpot

In this setup, FirstSpot will hand out the IP to the client PC according to your Multiple Network Segments setting.

Thanks for the reply.

Makes sense.

Do you know if the following equipment supports it?

Cisco PIX 515e
Cisco 1711 Router
Linksys BEFVP41

Cisco PIX 515e - Yes ( see http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_data_sheet09186a0080091b15.html )

Cisco 1711 Router - not sure but don't think so

Linksys BEFVP41 - No

Of course, you should check with the manufacturers directly to confirm.
