I am investigating the use of Firstspot to manage hotspots in a number of locations (miles apart from each other so they will be seperate facilities) I am really just wondering what hardware / ISP types to go with.
Questions are:
Currently we use Demon broadband with a PPOA connection - is this likely to be OK?
While I appreciate Firstspot is not hardware manufacturer specific is there a make - Belkin, Netgear, D-Link etc which we would be better to start off with - maybe there are features in the forthcoming V4 release which benefit from say D-Link hardware?
If anybody can advise a current hardware configuration, model numbers etc. it would be much appreciated - and should we be looking at MIMO capability?
All thoughts appreciated - Martin |

1) PPPoA - It should be fine as long as you put a router between FirstSpot and the PPPoA connection. Namely,
FirstSpot -> Router -> PPPoA Connection
2) FirstSpot is completely hardware neutral. So we don't have plan to tie to specific brand of hardware. Since we are neutral, FirstSpot will work with MIMO. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
