|
|
Hi there,
I am setting up a WISP at several locations and at each of those locations they will connect to the FirstSpot server via PPPoE DSL over the Internet.
Any suggestions as to the best hardware to do this with? We feel it not important to have the traffice encrypted between the locations and the FirstSpot server.
I am totally new to this so any info would help :-)
Thanks very much.

Well, many of the medium-to-high end VPN/Routers will do. Try Sonicwall or Cisco. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Hi Alan,
At your suggestion we purchased a couple Zywalls, though Zywall-2 not Zywall-10 as the only difference between the software is the number of available VPN connections is limited (ie. Zywall-2 = 2 connections whereas Zywall-10 = 10).
I'm not familiar with non-split tunneling so am unsure how to setup the VPN between my branch Zywalls and the central Zywall where FirstSpot resides. I'm not sure how to force the traffic to the Private NIC of the FirstSpot server which is attached directly to my Zywall on a 10.20.7.0 network...
Please help.

Just an offer/suggestion... I too am setting up a WISP, with multiple locations. According to the Internet Feed Company i'm usuing's technicians that are feeding me the DS1 and such, they said one way to do it most inexpensive is to do it this way:
Internet Feed --> Cisco 2621 (with the T1card in it) -->FS Server/computer--> Cisco Catalyst Managed switch (or any managed switch to enable th Sinerio #3 with the different IP designations) --> Cisco 1721 at each end location, which will then go out to your AP thru a unmanaged cheapo switch :).. if you want further explaination , just email me :)
