Post subject: Any forseeable problems with this

Hi Alan,

I have made a few changes to the signup functions and I would like to ask if you forsee any problems with the change I made with relation to the user database.

Basicly I have done the following.

I am using ExtraInfo09 and ExtraInfo10 fields to save the IP and MAC in readable format.
I do not currently use Extrainfo Fields 05 to 08.
Will this cause any isses that you can see.?
Would it be better to store these as numeric data.?

Also, so that the user does not see the extra fields during signup, I have added a trap for those two fields and do not display them, this then allows them to be viewed with the extra info button in the user panel.

All this appears to work without fail but thought it was best to ask.

Hv.

Your customization is fine as long as you don't use SMS Sign-up (as it will use field 10 to store the mobile number, see http://patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2996)

Hi Alan,

Well of all the ones I had to pick out of the sky ! Embarassed

I shall fix that up but I do not think SMS is going to be used, today.

As one of the entry fields in our deployment is used for the new users mobile number, If I were to use field 10 for them to enter their own mobile number would that be safe.

Guessing that the sms transport will overwrite this with the data it needs and thus giving a central point for the required information, leaving a valid number.

If the Sms stuff is ever used on this job it may be handy to know.

Sorry if you have discussed this before.

Hv.
