DHCP -> Client Pass-through (MAC) -> iPhone!!!

Dear PatronSoft Team,

i have some problems with your HotSpot System v6.0.9 Premium.

I registered several iPhone MAC-adresses under “Client Pass-through (MAC)” but the IP-adresses aren’t always assigned. The DHCP on the FirstSpot is activated though.

For a while it functions without any interruptions and then all of a sudden it doesn’t work at all any more. A service restart unfortunately doesn’t help at all.

Some iPhones indicate being connected to the WLAN, but once we check the details they have been assigned a 169er IP-adress. The status line (next to the clock) only indicates the 3G service. The WLAN-symbol is not displayed. If we try to renew the LEASE the iPhone receives an IP-adress out of our DHCP-area which only lasts for about 5 seconds though.

The second issue is, how do I make sure that the iPhones are permanently connected to the HotSpot without having to constantly re-connect them? The registration via “Client Pass-through (MAC)” takes substantially longer than the registration via WPA network. Unfortunately the iPhone only connects with the HotSpot as soon as traffic occurs.

Can you post your firstspot_gw_srv_[timestamp].log under FirstSpot\log directory? If the file is too big, just post the first 300 lines.

You should use Passive Login (under Configuration Manager -> Users -> Add) instead. Please:

1) remove the previous iPhone related entries in Client Pass-through
2) restart FirstSpot
3) add the iPhone MAC (not IP since you are using MAC-based Session Handling) as Passive Login User
