Dual WAN SG560 and Firstspot - Driving me nuts!

HI Guys and Gals,

I have a Cyberguard/Snapgear SG560 with two ADSL2 connections coming from two Netgear DM111 modems in Bridge mode. The SG560 is doing the PPPoE for the Modems and is set for Load Balancing. All works well on this side.

I've looked at the forums and it seems all I have to do on Firstspot is
turn off the NAT and let the SG560 do the NAT. However, the card in our server configured for the Public Interface (set to DHCP) never gets the WAN IP.
I can't set it manually as we want to load balance the ADSL2 links, so if one goes down it will of course have a different IP.

I've tried all sorts.. Turning off NAT at the SG560 blah blah.

Firstspot seems to want a valid WAN IP on the Public NIC before it will start but I can't for the life of me figure out how to pass this information from the SG560 to the Firstspot Public NIC.

If I take one of the Netgear DM111 modems and let it connect direct to the Public NIC and take care of PPPoE itself (the modem) then the WAN card obviously gets the WAN IP via DHCP from the modem. I bascially want the SG560 to pass this information to the WAN card in our server once the two DM111's are connected back to the SG560.

Anyone had experience with this setup? Thanks in advance.

Couple of comments:

1) Maybe you can assign FirstSpot Internet Network Interface IP (WAN IP) statically (i.e. without DHCP).

2) FirstSpot Internet Network Interface IP doesn't have to have "real" IP. It can be internal IP like 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x

3) turning off FirstSpot NAT is not a must. It is only necessary if your WAN router needs to do load balancing based on client IP.

Thanks Alan. That worked a treat.

For anyone else, this is what I did..

(This assume you already have your SG560 setup in Dual WAN mode.)

SG560 set to IP 192.168.0.1

FirstSpot WAN card set to: 192.168.0.2 with DNS 192.168.0.1 and GW
of 192.168.0.1

FirstSpot LAN card set to standard 10.x.x.x range, but DNS set to 192.168.0.1

Plug WAN card cable into any A1-A3 Ports on SG560.
(A4 on my SG560 is the ADSL Load Balance)

And it all works. Phew. Easy when you know how Smile
