|
|
We are using free self-sign up accounts that have a maximum daily data volume of 50 MB. The infobox displays this correctly: starting at 50 MB and counting down.
However when the limit is reached, the system does not seems to disconnect the user: the infobox displays 'restricted account' but I can continue to surf and download.
(The user setting 'Restricted account' is set to 'NO')
Once I logout and try to login again a message is shown 'You have exceeded your data transfer quota limit. Please contact your system administrator!' (OK)
This weekend some users managed to download over 300 MB on a single day. that's something I definitely want to stop.
Did I make a configuration mistake somewhere or is this a system limitation (or bug)? |

We are unable to reproduce your problem. Have you used "Restricted Account" user attribute before? Have you restarted FirstSpot recently? It will be great if you can give us a simple test case after you restart FirstSpot. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

No I never user restricted accounts before (at least not intentionally).
I restarted Firstspot and manually created a user with following settings:
- Account is disabled: no
- Account is active: now
- Restricted account: no
- Conditions to suspend: never
- Bandwidth throttling: up 32 - down 64
- Upload enable data transfer counter: no
- Download enable data transfer counter: no
- Total enable data transfer counter: yes and disable... 5000
- when to reset data transfer counter: daily
- evert 1 day
All remaining parameters set to No
When logging in with this account the infobox correctly displays the available datavolume.
Bandwidth throttling works fine.
When the data volume is used the infobox displays 'restricted account'
but the download continues: NOT OK
Also bandwidth throttling remains at the level set for the user (32/64), not the global one (4/.
Once the user logs out het cannot login anymore (OK).
If I check the user account I see now
- Total data transfer consumed since last reset : 8362 (while the limit above is set to 5000)
We use the latest 605 release with the patch you provided for the 'auto-delete problem'.
Hope you can reproduce the problem with this info. |

We are making progress and uncover some slight timing issue. Still, our case isn't exactly like yours. One question, what Exception Free Websites have you defined? Did you download information from those web sites? Can you post your AllowedHostsKeywords.txt? _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Well, there are 2 issues.
1) The InfoBox incorrectly displays the text "Restricted Account". This is actually a very minor issue since most of the time if the user is disconnected correctly, you will only see the text for less than 1 second. We improve the UI a bit. You can download the UI patch at http://patronsoft.com/firstspot/download/patch/606/infobox_patch.zip . Just unzip the file and copy the 2 files to your FirstSpot\authserv directory.
2) For some unknown reason, your client is not disconnected correctly. Please apply above patch, reproduce the problem, before restarting FirstSpot, post your firstspot_gw_srv_[timestamp].log under FirstSpot\log directory. Please inform us what do you see in the InfoBox after you apply the patch. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

After applying the patch the Infobox no longer displays 'restricted account' but the client is not disconnected when his total datavolume is used.
I can still download with the same speed as before.
I'll mail the firstspot_gw_srv_xxx.log file |

We cannot reproduce your problem using VMWare.
It seems that there is a failure in either our service thread or driver. We email you a debug build FirstSpotCore.exe. Please apply the .exe, and reproduce the problem, and post or email us the log firstspot_gw_srv_[timestamp].log again. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

This will take some time.
I'll come back (probably mid march) with the results. |

Did you receive our .exe through email? It seems that your email gateway rejected it. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Yes I got it. (All executable files are indeed rejected but the zipped archive got through)
I'll try to provide feedback as soon as possible. |

I did tests with both a new 6.0.5 installation and the files you sent to jdeleu, but in both cases I didn't encounter the problem either, so I guess that somewhere along the line, something went wrong with our current FirstSpot installation.
Within the next few weeks, we are going to put the new installation of FirstSpot in operation, so we should be good.
In case the problem resurfaces, we'll contact you again.
Thanks for your help. |

Just a reminder, if you want to go live, please use the latest v6.0.6 since we fix several stability issues. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
