Post subject: Fail to start ICS since it is in started state
Hello,
I have FirstSpot® v6.0.1 Advanced Edition and Win Vista home basic SP1

I have the service Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) stopped and manual

When Firstspot start the service Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is started and automatic, when Firstspot stop the ICS service become stopped and manual.

Like this when the machine reboot with the firstspot started the ICS service is started and automatic and when Firstspot start show the error

“Fail to start ICS since it is in started state. Please restart FirstSpot after ICS service is stopped.”

If Firstspot start again it start ok

They are a solution at this inconvenient?

1) Do you mean you set FirstSpot auto-start on reboot?

2) Do you mean you get the error ONLY when you RESTART FirstSpot?

3) Please reproduce the problem and post here the LAST TWO firstspot_gw_srv_<timestamp>.log files (you need to extract in FirstSpot\log and the older one in FirstSpot\log\archive).

1) no, I don't set the firstspot autostarft on reboot

2) no, I get the error ONLY when I turn off the machine (without stop firstspot) and start the machine and start firstspot

3) this is the last log files

It seems that ICS service did not stop at the time FirstSpot was shutting down. Could you provide us with any remote access method to your FirstSpot machine for a further check?

we are trying to active the Remote Access in the FirstSpot machine but this windows vista version no have this option.
I don't know othe way to remote access to the machine.

I can't install VNC because the system is already instaled to the final client. The error not show when try again the start Firstspot.

Hello,
we are solving the problem with a BAT file, in the start menu of the windows, with the lines

net start "PatronSoft FirstSpot Dispatcher"
net stop "PatronSoft FirstSpot Dispatcher"
net start "PatronSoft FirstSpot Dispatcher"

like this, when the machine reboot we are sure that the FirsSpot is runing.

Thi's not a suitable solution but this solve the problem of the reboot of machine.
