We are currently testing FirstSpot v5.1.6 Trial version for potential purchase.
Issue:
The SMTP Roaming feature does not seem to be working.
This is based on the following observations from a client station and broswer using the "sample" user name and password:
Using Outlook Express and Thunderbird
With SMTP Roaming Disabled:
Successfully sent an email using a SMTP server configured in Outlook Express.
With SMTP Roaming Enabled:
Used the same smtp server in SMTP Roaming then saved setting and restarted FirstSpot.
Unsuccessfully sent an email from Outlook Express using a different SMTP server configured in outlook Express (received mail successfully)
Checked FirstSpot logs:
"firstspot_gw_srv_****" reported that "SMTP Roaming on"
"firstspot_mail_****" reported with no entries in log (??!!)
I assumed that with the ISP's SMTP server conifgured in FirstSpot SMTP Roaming, any other SMTP server configured locally on clients would be 'redirected' to said server.
Do our observations indicate that SMTP Roaming is not functioning properly? _________________ drvin |

Hello Alan,
Thanks for your timely response.
The SMTP Roaming function is working now, in fact, it probably had been working the entire time. I had configured the the SMTP server on the local mail client incorrectly... my bad.
Again thanks. _________________ drvin |
