|
|
We are experiencing problems with clients not being able to receive DHCP allocated addresses from the Firstspot server using a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller. This is the response from Cisco:
"WLCs have to perform the DHCP relay agent. WLCs will convert DHCP discover packets from broadcast to unicast. Most DHCP servers do not support that.
From the DHCP servers' perspective, it does not make sense that a client on the same IP subnet as the DHCP server requires a middle man
(WLC, DHCP relay agent) to manipulate the DHCP discovery packet."
Do you guys have any ideas? Does Firstspot support the DHCP method mentioned above? |

FirstSpot does support DHCP relay in Multiple Network Segments case.
Note that if you only have a single network segment in the hotspot (i.e. no router between client and FirstSpot), there is no need for DHCP relay. You should use FirstSpot DHCP server and turn off all other DHCP server/relay in your network. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
