We recently installed Firstspot on our server and everything tested OK. we then set up Firstspot using scenario 3, which we can connect to, but we do not get the login page or get to the web (which we got running test 1 & 2). When entering any web site, such as google.com or yahoo.com, it attempts to resolve the ip address but comes back with a blank page. I have disabled offloading.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem would be appreciated. |

Maybe your client's DNS setting is not correct? You can use nslookup (run from the client side) to verify.
Also, are you using FirstSpot DHCP server? Note that you need to setup DHCP relay in your router correctly. Also, you need to add a Multiple Network Segments entry within FirstSpot. Refer to Chapter 4 (Scenario 3) of firstspot_guide.pdf for details. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Alan:
Running nslookup shows the client is trying to use the firstspot server. Our clients have no problem connecting to the internet when using our wired network or connecting using another hotspot. Is there some additional setting that firstspot requires to work properly?
We are using Firstspot DHCP server and each client gets an IP address. We also have a multiple network segment entry in firstspot that has enabled us to get an IP address successfully.
Any other possibilities. We would really like to get this working ASAP.
Thanks,
William |

Can the client PC ping FirstSpot server and the Internet (e.g. apple.com)? Since you can get the login page when running Scenario 1, I think you are have problem with your router and/or Multiple Network Segments setting. Please double-check your settings according to the example in Chapter 4 of firstspot_guide.pdf.
If you still have difficulties, please post the below information for further analysis.
1) your config.ini file
2) ipconfig/all of FirstSpot machine
3) ipconfig/all of the client PC _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
