Hi
We are currently roling out a wireless hotspot service for one of our clients. They have about 30 sites worldwide. The hardware (server) is being delivered locally to each country so we have created a ghost image on a usb pen drive to install the operating system with firstspot on each server. As I understand firstspot has to be installed on each server as the MAC address is bound to the firstspot install. Is there a way of binding the MAC address of the new servers nic to the already installed firstspot (ghost image). Thanks in advance. _________________ David Beadle

Note that you need 30 different paid license keys. As long as you copy the valid license (tie to the MAC of the corresponding machine) to the FirstSpot directory, you shouldn't need to install FirstSpot manually in the machine.
I suggest you do some rollout testing though. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Thanks Alan, Yes we will be purchasing licenses for each site. My colleague has mentioned about a problem with the config.ini file. It appears that if you apply a license there are issues with this file. If the NIC card manufacturer or model changes would this cause issues with this file ? _________________ David Beadle

Starting from v3, FirstSpot only depends on the Network Connections name. In fact, you can change the network card setup without reinstall. Refer to readme.rtf for the instruction. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
