Hot spot security

I still don't see how this can be achieved, because if this were true, some sort of program will have to be installed on the client.
It's:
multiple wireless clients > AP > FirstPost
The AP already connects the clients to each other, no proxy/router/NAT software solution behind the AP can change anything about that, can it?
Or do you just mean that, on the server, I cannot see any clients in Network Neighbourhood?
