Post subject: user comment feature for MAC authentication

When using MAC authentication with password, I don't have any place on the user page to record any information about the user, such as their name, room number, etc. A memo-style comment field would be a welcome addition.

The 'show extra information' button does not seem to actually do anything, it just pops up a small browser page with no content.

You mean you are using "Use MAC as username"?

The "Show Extra Information" button is used to displayed "Extra Information Fields" which you defined in under UI Customization -> EXTRA INFORMATION FIELDS (FOR FIRST LOGIN / SELF SIGN UP).

Normally, this feature is for end-users to fill in the information themselves. To enable it, just select "Request user to fill in extra information form at the first login?" under Configuration Manager -> Users. You can, however, "borrow" those fields if you want to use them as a way to record any information about the users. You need to update the columns signup01-signup10 of user table fsusr directly though.
