Post subject: Firewall Issues

I am evaluating FirstSpot and have been impressed with the ease of installation, but have some niggling issues that I would like some help with.

We use the F-Protect client on our PCs and workstations, and I am having some problems with false positives being created each time a wireless client tries to access the gateway. Each tome someone tries to connect, the firewall tells us that we are under attack from the SINIT Trojan via UDP. Some of these connections are then blocked and some are permitted, but there does not seem to be any definite pattern.

Is there any firewall feature within FirstSpot that we could use instead of F-Secure?

If not, what ports and applications do we need to allow within the firewall, without opening us up to abuse?

Thanks in anticipation.

Kind Regards

Roy

Refer to http://patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1084 for more information.

As you can see, we don't really recommend anti-virus with packet inspection type of monitoring as it might severely slow down your FirstSpot system. Having said that, we are doing some preliminary test on some anti-virus system. For example, Grisoft AVG seems to work okay with FirstSpot.
