Post subject: Free printing from cafe comptuers?

I would like to have our cafe computers to be able to print without the expensive printeron.com solution. Is this possible?

This might be difficult, as PrinterOn provides web-based printing that supports a variety of file formats.

Isn't they have a US$395 per year package?

$395 per year is VERY expensive! Not a good solution. I want an inexpensive or free solution to print from dedicated computers.

Well, this seems to be the standard charging scheme for web-based printing product. Anyone aware of other charging scheme?

For your case, you can actually print directly from the client PC's Windows printing interface instead of using web-based printing (like PrinterOn). The downside is that you need to install printer driver in the client PC and FirstSpot won't be able to track the printed pages. You can use the below setup:

Client PC -> FirstSpot -> Printer -> Internet

(So the client PC needs to login FirstSpot first before he can access the printer.)

Yes, I discovered dedicated cafe computers can print to a public side networked printer once they log in. No changes to FirstSpot were required. Nice product!
