I need a hot spot solution for a large yacht with a Fleet 55 satellite internet connection. The yacht is primary used for charters and guest network access should be via hotspot. Some crew need to be metered while the captain needs unlimited access.
The satellite connection is defined as a dialup connection on a dedicated computer and is turned on and off from this computer. Will FirstSoft work with this scenario? In particular can the public network be a dialup connection?
Additionally, can the public network be switched to a different connection? A couple days a week the yacht will be in a marina with wireless. In the marina I would want the public side of the network to be switched to a network adapter connected to a wireless bridge.
This is a time critical installation as the yacht is leaving the shipyard in about three days, so a quick reply from PatronSoft would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, _________________ Tom Remmers |

The FirstSpot public side connection can be anything, as long as it looks like a Windows adapters. In other words, Ethernet and Wireless card will work, but dial-up connection won't.
If you really need a dial-up connection, you can place a PC or router (with dial-up interface) between FirstSpot and your modem. That way from FirstSpot perspective and it still looks like a normal network adapter. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
