Post subject: Can't get restarted

We lost the internal network card on the pc and thus our connection to the firstspot server. Installed another network card, but while it shows up in windows as activivated, firstspot , when we try to reinstall FS, FS does not see the new card and since we disable the internal/bad network card, it says we have only one card! How do we get firstspot to see the second (new) card??

Yes, we are a lic. users, but since we can't figure out our password and user name, and the forum says our email address is already used (of course), and we have no other email address (fsmith1@woh.rr.com), we are stuck with having to use this method to ask our question.

Post subject: What now??

Got the two cards set back up again, by using the old download of 2.17 s/w, and we can start FS without error. We see the AP, and have lots of strength on the signal, but we get no connection.

Where do we go from here and how do we get a key to reset up the second lan card (the first card is the same one, but the internal network connection on the motherboard died)??

Thanks
Frank

Let's confirm that you solve the technical problem first before we deal with the license key.

So what is your exact symtom? Can you be a bit more specific?

Post subject: No Connection

OK. Finally got to evaluation s/w 2.12 up and running and it loads and starts without error.
Clients can see the strong AP signal and can "connect" to it with their laptops, but they can not get an IP (10.net) from the firstspot s/w (via checking for an IP address....there is no assignment even though they clients have DHCP checked).
Clients can go over to the local coffee shop and connect without problem.
Help?

Note that client PC might not attach to the AP yet. The most common case is that the WEP for the client PC and the AP do not match.

(A very simple test is to set the AP and the client PC IP manually, and try to ping each other.)

Post subject: Still no connection

We still have no connect through to the FS s/w. We do not use WEP or any security s/w and the PC's. connected before we had the hardware failure on the server??

Post subject: In.....in a round about way!

Finally got it going again, but only after trashing the orginial machine and going to a backup computer and only then after downloading the trial version of FS s/w 3.1.4.

It was really strange. We sat and worked with the new computer for many hours and could not get a client to connect. We left it last night, un and running and this morning when we tried to connect, it worked fine???

OK, now what do we do to renew our lic. and extend the 30 day trial or whatever??

Frank, according to our record you have one valid v2 Standard Edition license.

To upgrade, you need to purchase item 2STD3STD-U. See http://www.patronsoft.com/firstspot/buy_now_2.html for details.

Post subject: Ver. 2.x

OK. So if we can get back onto 2.x version, can we get another key for it since we lost the other whole computer...disk and all?

How/where do we get a download for version 2.x?

Thanks

What was the exact version (e.g. 2.1.7) that you were using before the crash?

We will send you the download link via email.

Post subject: Not sure??

Since we lost our development PC earlier this year and now our main unit, I'm not sure, but is must have been the last one before you released the 3.x version.

I guess it doesn't matter too much, since we can't do any programing/testing without our backup machine to whatever version we get should do the job.

I know we have the standard version of 2.x and not the more capable version, if that helps.

Thanks
Frank
