Post subject: All users able to have unlimited Internet

Hi

I am using version 7
It has been running OK for years.
Suddenly when a user logs in the infobox disconnects then immediately, but they are still able to get on the Internet.
The users are no longer shown in status, and the quota never gets used up.
Do I need to upgrade to version 8?

We don't have report of this problem in the current v8.

It is a good chance to upgrade to the current v8 as we will only issue fix for the v8 in the future. We suggest you to upgrade to the current v8, and we will fix any problem that you have in case your problem persists. For your case, you can visit the below link to complete the upgrade purchase:

Thank you in advance.

Post subject: Version 8 Exact same issue

I upgraded to version 8.0.14 and the above problem went away
then I upgraded to version 8.1.0 and the exact same issue returned.

For your case, we suggest that you stick with v8.0.14 (or better yet v8.0.15) for the time being. The v8.0.15 and v8.1.0 are the same except for Windows 10 support which I suspect you are not using it at this moment.

Post subject: Issue still happening

Hi

I went back to version 8.0.14 and the above issue is still happening.
Could it be an issue with windows 7?

Post subject: Experimenting

I have been attempting to figure out the problem.
I reinstalled version 8.1
Made all my configuration changes
Everything worked normally.
I then installed the license.
The above problem returned.
I put back the trial license.
Everything worked normal again.

What in the license could be causing this?

Strange. The license should only remove some limitations.

What configuration setting did you change? In that case, you need to make the change one-by-one to isolate the issue.

Also, did you import the setting from v7? Try to change it manually in the v8 instead.

Post subject: Testing

I changed all settings manually, I did not even know that importing was an option.
I did the changes one at a time and tested after each change.
They are all simple changes.
#1 Change password
#2 Set IP for visitor network
#3 Customize sign in page wording and font sizes
#4 Customize Free Access Plan to limit usage to 200MB, reset usage counter every day, limit bandwidth (on low) and set to anon login after first login.
#5 Make Free Access the only option when signing in
#6 Block 1 MAC Address
#7 Set up White List with about 5 MAC Addresses for pass thru
#8 Copy License file

Could Windows 7 be the problem? I can upgrade to Windows 10 if that might help.

Should I maybe reverse the order of changes and do the license first and then the other changes one at a time to see if that makes any difference?

Windows 7 or 10 shouldn't make any difference. Also, reversing order won't help either.

The key now is the re-test after every change. The most suspicious setting is your white list pass-through. Keep in mind that there should be not router-like device (e.g. AP with WAN port used) between client and FirstSpot as router is a level 3 device and it will filter out the client MAC address.
