|
|
Hi,
I cannot get FirstSpot to start. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing several times.
This is on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit.
Remote Access and Routing is installed (and service set to manual). I have disabled all protocols except TCP/IP v4 on the visitor interface. I have disabled all offloading on the visitor network card.
When I try and start FirstSpot, it says
Code: | Visitor Network Interface Card did not bind the PatronSoft FirstHop Driver, or some of the following services failed to start: rasman, lmhosts, netman. |
If I look in the event viewer, I see the following error
Code: | The PatronSoft FirstHop Driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. |
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Can you try to start "Remote Access and Routing" manually as a test? Notice any error you might encounter.
BTW, FirstSpot is designed to work well with Windows with default settings. So it maybe some Windows services has been changed after your original Windows install. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

BTW, if "Remote Access and Routing" fails to start, usually some of the dependent services are missing or disabled. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Hi,
I have just started 'Routing and Remote Access' and it starts fine, and the event log reports...
Code: | The Routing and Remote Access service entered the running state. |
However, I'm wondering if FirstSpot will be able to do what we need as I see it doesn't have any of it's own proxy capability. Is it able to forward to an upstream proxy?
Thanks

Yes. You can set upstream proxy under Dispatcher (Main). _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Thanks - sounds like it is worth persevering then!
Any ideas how we can get it up and running? Routing and Remote Access starts fine when started manually.

What is your most current error message? Please also check whether the FirstHop and Patronsoft NAT driver are installed correctly.
As an alternative, you might want to install FirstSpot on a clean Windows. There might be some settings that are intervening with FirstSpot setup. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Hi,
I'm still receiving the same error I was originally, in my first post.
The NAT and FirstHop driver appear to be installed correctly. Both are bound to the visitor interface and the NAT driver is bound to the internet interface.
This was a clean install in August 2012 and hasn't been doing anything except DHCP (which is now removed).

Can you post your firstspot_gw_srv_[timestamp].log under FirstSpot\log directory? _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Also, please make sure the below Windows services are installed and not "Disabled":
Remote Access Connection Manager (rasman)
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper (lmhosts)
Network Connections (netman)
Moreover, go to Routing and Remote Access service properties page -> click dependencies, and make sure it's dependent system components are okay. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
