So How simple can I make this all work? I have set up an ISP with Netwin on linux but what I am asking is how simple could I make an HOT spot or series of spots using firstspot and have compleate service with email. I am thinking I need a mail server, a dns server, and no news or ftp. Is this true? How simple could I build it say to hanle 100 users?? A thousand?? I am trying to make as simple as possable to operate system. What I am finding is some of the places that want us to install their wifi systems also want email, I am working on putting together as easy to install and operate system as possable. Any thoughts??
Thanks. _________________ stacey j brann |

It is more a question related to Windows rather FirstSpot. Note that FirstSpot has its own DNS so you don't need that part. For other services, you probably can find some reasonable shareware/freeware in Windows.
Also, just to point out that FirstSpot does support putting other services in the same PC (we call this "local content"). This is just another reason why a PC is better than a closed, proprietary hardware box for Hotspot Management. See point 6 of FirstSpot FAQ http://patronsoft.com/firstspot/faq.php for more details. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
