Post subject: Bandwidth Shaping

Do you have the ability to control the usage of a client? ie; if they are streaming video for hours and hours, can FirstSpot automatically reduce their bandwidth to discourage using too much of the system?

Also, can firstspot control the number of e-mails, or the SMTP traffic? I don't like people using my WiFi systems to send spam!! Smile

Thank you.

1) Yes, you can use Bandwidth Throttling which basically set the maximum usage of individual user. Alternatively, you can use our Restricted Account user attribute. FirstSpot will slow down a user if his Access Minutes or Quota has been used up . Refer to chapter 3 of firstspot_guide.pdf for details.

2) For email, you enable our SMTP Roaming feature and use the "Maximum Recipients Per Mail" parameter to restrict email sending. Please check out chapter 3 of firstspot_guide.pdf for more information.
