Post subject: Log options

Hi Patronsoft!

I have searched you fora and not found any aswers on logging options that was reacent posted.

Anyway, we are evaluation your product and have one last issue to resolv.

? As an Enterprice company there is demands of keeping logs of surf history of 18 month. The log must contain tracability back to the user.
As we are using a RADIUS solution for Authenticating the guests, is it possible to extract/trace:
Account name
IP-address
URL visit
Time
It is not a demand that all this information is in the same file/db

? Is it possible to extract concurrent users ect to be able to get statistict of usage?

Best Regards

The data is actually in the URL Tracking log. Make sure:

1) You turn on URL Tracking under Access Control. You need to restart FirstSpot after making any change

2) the URL Tracking log is in files called urldata_[timestamp].csv under FirstSpot\log and FirstSpot\log\archive directory

3) Alternatively, you can also view the URL Tracking log under Configuration Manager -> Access Control -> URL Tracking -> click Show URL Log

Thanks for your fast answer!

Is it also possible to track the User e.g correlate the IP-address in the URL log file to the DHCP provided address while using an external RADIUS server för authentication?

and statiskics of usage? What is possible to extract?

Thanks in advance

Yes, URL Tracking is fully supported under RADIUS Authentication Mode.

The URL Tracking log includes both the source (client) IP and MAC address, as well as the destination URL/IP and protocol (e.g. http). So you should be able to extract the information you need from the log files directly.
