Post subject: Question about FirstSpot

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible :

1) Limit the bandwith for guest users and by users ?

2) The solution of captive portal will have mechanism of security allowing to avoid the usurpation Of the address IP and\or MAC after the phase of authentification ?

3) The solution will have to allow the customization of the homepage of the captive portal. Is it possible ?
And if yes, is it customizable by SSID ?

4) What about connexions logs ?
What can we get in logs ? which kind of data are save into the firstspot ?
(Useful for the French legislation) and wich format of logs?

5) This solution will have to allow in particular the creation of " tickets of access " by a typical profile "receptionist" (without administrator's rights on the solution). Is it possible ?

6) The captive portal will integrate if possible of the features allowing to define rights of access to the users by means of filtering.
Is it possible ?

Thanks a lot for your quick answer.

Sinclair.

1) Yes. You can use Bandwidth Throttling and Data Transfer Quota.

2) Yes, FirstSpot is a captive portal

3) For login page customization, you can change most of the text and picture in Configuration Manager -> UI Customization. For deeper customization, please refer to chapter 5 of firstspot_guide.pdf for details.

4) Yes. You need to enable URL Tracking (under Access Control). Refer to chapter 3 of firstspot_guide.pdf for details.

5) Yes, you can take advantage of our "Operator" feature. The idea is that you can define some operator accounts which limit their login rights to Users and Status only (for example)

6) You can define a per-user IP Block List. Refer to chapter 3 of firstspot_guide.pdf for details.

1) Indirectly. You can use FirstSpot Multiple Network Segments, and tie each SSID to a network segment.

2) The URL Tracking log is stored in the file urldata_[timestamp].csv under FirstSpot\log directory. You can open the file directly and extract the information you need.

If you want to only change the text and picture in the captive portal, you can change it in the web-based Configuration Manager (under UI Customization). For deeper change (e.g. redesign the style of the whole page), you need someone with simple HTML skill. Refer to chapter 5 of firstspot_guide.pdf for a guideline.
